This post is all about tips and tricks for leftover wallpaper ideas for home decor.
Leftover wallpaper can be a versatile and creative resource for various DIY projects around the home. If you’re like me, you hate letting things go to waste… especially that beautiful, expensive wallpaper you purchased! That stuff ain’t cheap! This all started when I purchased several rolls of Serena and Lily wallpaper for my master bedroom. We had so much leftover that it hurt my heart to not put it to use!
In this blog post, I’ll show you ideas to use wallpaper remnants throughout your home. From framed wall art to revamped furniture, these simple yet stylish ideas will have you looking at wallpaper in an entirely different light. Let me know in the comments how you like to use up the rest of your wallpaper rolls around your home!
1. Framed Wall Art
Cut the leftover wallpaper pieces to size and frame them to create wall art. Mix and match patterns or use a single design as an interesting element in any room.

2. Cabinet Door Inserts
If you have cabinets with glass doors or panels, add leftover wallpaper behind the glass to create a decorative and personalized touch. I especially love this idea with a rattan or natural wallpaper to create a cane-like designer dupe look.
3. Book Covers
Use wallpaper to cover old or plain book covers. You can mix and match wallpaper designs or those with and without wallpaper. This works for both hardcover and paperback books. It’s a fun pop of color and design without being too bold!

4. Switch Plate and Outlet Covers
Upgrade your switch and outlet plate covers with small pieces of wallpaper. It can be a small, fun detail or can be used to hide those white plate covers to create a cohesive look on a wallpapered wall.
5. Flip Furniture
Use wallpaper to add a decorative touch to furniture pieces. The possibilities are endless here! Wallpaper can be wrapped around furniture, added to the sides of dressers and drawers, or pasted to the back of bookshelves. 6. Stair Risers
Add a touch of fun to your staircase by applying wallpaper to the risers. This can be a subtle yet stylish way to incorporate patterns into your home. I highly suggest using peel-and-stick wallpaper on stair risers!
7. Drawer Liners
Line the bottoms of shelves, drawers, or cabinets with wallpaper to give them a fresh and stylish appearance. Drawer liners help to prevent knicks and dents within your furniture. Not only is this functional but it adds a hidden touch of design to your storage spaces!

8. Gift Wrap
Use leftover wallpaper to wrap presents in for special occasions. I love this idea for a housewarming gift! Bonus Use small sections of wallpaper to create unique, cordinated greeting cards!
9. Picture Frame Mat
Cut the wallpaper to size and use it as a mat for pictures or artwork. Or my lazy way of using a mat was simple added a picture in front of a full piece of wallpaper. It turned out so fun to display and match my room!

10. Custom Lampshade
Update a plain or old lampshade by covering it with leftover wallpaper. Make sure to use an adhesive suitable for the material – double-sided tape works nicely.
There are so many ways that you can use leftover wallpaper rolls around your home to create beautiful, fun, and coordinated elements! I hope this gives you some inspiration – let me know in the comments if you try any of these out or have other ideas to use the remaining wallpaper!
