5 Simple Steps to Caulk Bathroom Countertop
Step 1- Remove existing caulk
Use the caulk removal tool and your exacto knife to scrape out any existing, cracked caulk. This is a super important step to achieve a clean new caulk line. It’s also SO satisfying to remove!
I start with the caulk removal tool to get most of the caulk out of the seam and then use the exacto knife to move any tough spots.
Step 2 – Vacuum any leftover debris
I used my handheld vacuum to remove any small pieces of debris and make sure the area was clean before starting to re-caulk the bathroom countertop.
Step 3 – Tape
Using painter’s tape, I taped the area that will be re-caulked so there is a clean line and easy cleanup!
Step 4 – Apply new caulk
I used the GE Advanced Silicone 100% waterproof material that I purchased from Amazon.com. Cut the tip of your silicon kitchen and bath sealant at a 45-degree angle for the best application. Apply the caulk with consistent pressure along the seam. Using your finger or the caulk removal tool, wipe away the excess.
Step 5 – Remove Tape
Remove the tape while the caulk is still wet. The specific caulk I used is water-ready in as little as 30 minutes!
This easy project took me only 15 minutes to do! Our builder recommends that every year or two you replace caulk and grout. Will you give it a try in your own spaces?
